Records Assessment

Across the country, embracing the parents right to correct information so that they can make decisions with the knowledge that what they’re signing is appropriate, we review all of your child’s school records and evaluations while teaching you about your child and how s(he) presents educationally, emotionally, and behaviorally.  You will learn what the scores of the different tests mean, and if needed, we suggest specific testing to obtain more answers. You also learn how the current federal and state laws pertain to your child’s education and specific needs, your rights as a parent and your child’s rights as a student.

With the epidemic of incarceration created by “Zero Tolerance” causing statistics in what has been called the “School to Prison Pipeline”, review of the student’s records and investigation of antecedents to the behavior, are paramount to keeping a student from becoming court involved.  We help parents, schools, and court personnel to understand and answer the question “why”, which is the fundamental question that very few people answer. More often, adults react to behavior without knowing or sometimes caring why it happened. We’re talking about a child, not an adult.  It is important to care.

No one professional pulls together the records and interprets all of the information the way that we do.  We generate a report of our findings with recommendations that can be used by the parent, schools, courts, and social service agencies.  We then meet with the parents and the student (when appropriate) to discuss our findings, answer any questions, and decide on next steps.  Parents can then opt to take our findings and present them to the school’s team, or hire us to represent them at team meetings, mediations, and meetings with social service agencies. Informed decisions can then be made, Individual Education Programs (IEP’s) can be signed, and social service programs can then provide appropriate services. Knowledge truly is POWER!
